Somang Academy’s Varsity A hockey team captures the MLK Weekend Tournament championship
GATES MILLS, Ohio – Somang Hockey Academy delivered a commanding performance at the MLK Weekend Tournament, securing the championship with an emphatic 9–1 win over Meadville Area Senior High School on Sunday, 18 January.
Somang put together an outstanding weekend, scoring an impressive 37 goals across five games while conceding just three in total. Their title run included victories over McDowell High School, Meadville Area Senior High School, Cathedral Preparatory School, and Shaker Heights High School.
Ben Slifko, Teddy Frizzie, and Zack Cox were each selected for the all-tournament team in recognition of their standout performances throughout the weekend.
With the championship win, Somang Hockey Academy improved its season record to 24–1. The team will next travel to face Walsh Jesuit High School on Friday, 23 January, with puck drop scheduled for 6:00 pm at BAM Arena.
